What is Formula Student?
Formula Student is an international competition in which student teams design, build and test their own race cars. Additionally, teams are also evaluated on their engineering solutions, costs, business plan, so in general ability to present and defend their project and design decisions. The competition combines engineering, motorsport and teamwork, giving students hands-on experience in developing a vehicle from the ground up.
It is more than just a race competition – it is a comprehensive test of the car, the driver and the entire team. Ultimately, success is not only about having the fastest car, but about the team that best combines performance, technology, efficiency and clever minds.

Discover diplines in which teams compete during Competition
Dynamic disciplines
Acceleration
In this discipline, the car must cover a 75 meter, straight from a standing start in the shortest possible time. ACC, traction and an effective launch are key to achieve the best results.
Skid Pad
The car divers through a figure-eight track with tight left- and right-hand corners. The discipline tests how well the car handles the forces generated during cornering, as well as its grip and stability.
AutoCross
The driver comples a single fast lap on a technical course featuring corners, straights and direction changes, aiming for the fastest possible time. The results also determine the teams’ starting order for the Endurance discipline.
Endurance
Endurance is the longest and most important discipline in which car completes a 22-km race that tests its performance, reliability and the driver’s skills. The car’s energy or fuel efficiency is also evaluated as part of the event.
Static disciplines
BPP
Business Plan Presentation involves presenting a comprehensive business model for a race car-related startup to judges acting as potential investors or partners. Teams have only 10 minutes to deliver a compelling “elevator pitch,” demonstrating expertise with detailed research.
ED
Engineering Design is place where teams showcase their design projects. The evaluation covers various aspects such as aerodynamics, chassis, electrical systems, powertrain, vehicle dynamics, and overall management.
C&M
In Cost & Manufacturing disciplines teams demonstrate their ability to manage and optimize manufacturing processes and costs for a race car. They prepare detailed documentation about materials incl. every component of the car and other aspects (as human resources, environment etc.).
